The bottom line, which he made clear, a source of fresh air is absolutely mandatory for these things to be safe. He also said dirt or contamination can make these heater generate CO. This is the number for Camco if anyone wants to hear it for themselves: 1.800.334.2004
What rob told you is correct, there is a need for cross ventilation. It's in the instructions and on the heater. I have hold up in my rig for four days because of bad weather without any side effects. When use in the stove top for cooking the instructions say open a window a crack.
