That's what's on my trailer.
My Lippert axles are rated @ 5200#. The axles themselves are the 6K ones, but they have 5200# springs. This is standard operating procedure in the industry. The OPs 2800# axles are likely 3500#, mounted to 2800# springs.
I have owned a TT with Dexter running gear, and now Lippert. Both have served me well, but the Lippert is noticeably a step up in better quality welds, and powder coated components vs. Dexters paint.
At any rate, the bearing failure was likely caused by the last person that touched it. The shop that repacked them.
Many shops put this task off on the "new" kid that just got hired....Maybe if you're lucky, a experienced mechanic may check on his progress once in awhile... And "maybe" he will catch the kids mistakes,,,,,or maybe not.
Bottom line: It's not the axle manufacturers fault, no matter who it is.
