A bearing failure is not an axle failure. Bearings fail due to improper lubrication, installation or damage such as a bent spindle. That's why you check for discoloration or pitting of the bearings as it's a early warning of problems. Even reputable shops have inexperienced employees.
I had a axle fail. The spindle weld failed and the hub and all separated from the axle tube. I found out that there had been a recall on my axles that had not been preformed. My 5er was 6 yrs old and I had owned less than 3 months.
I called Lippert and emailed them the VIN, pictures of the failure and axle tags. They offered to ship to the house but I wanted to pick them up in person as they are only 2 hrs away. I shopped for other things for the 5er including all new parts from lug nuts to grease seals for the axles.
They had to build the axles. They called me when they were ready and we set a pick up schedule. When I pulled onto their lot I was told where to park. I told a guy who I was and he said "your here to pick axles". I wasn't on the property 10 minutes from gate to gate. Some of the most excellent service I've ever had.
I can see the 2 weeks for shipping to Texas. They would have to look up the specs for your axle and then build it. You can't shut down production on what's already scheduled and change tooling to build one axle. It has to be worked in with jobs using the same tooling or like materials. Then it would have to be packaged and shipped via truck due to size.
1stvee, I'm glad your safe and the fire was contained as it could have been a lot worse.
