Watch out. There a few on here that will take exception to your "......but you truly don't know it's back there", remark.
I have felt the same with our 6000lb 5er behind our 250 diesel. Sometimes, "I have to take a peek in the mirror to make sure that I'm still pulling. :) and we get about 12 mpg.
