No doubt the gassers don't produce anything close to the performance increase that tuned diesels do. But for me, the increased drivability of better throttle response, positive shifting, shift points optimized to the powerband, holding gears longer while are worth the $$. The biggest issue I have with the 6.2 Boss is that Ford won't let WOT occur until the upper RPM range regardless of pedal position...having the tuner makes merging, and on ramps so much better than stock. Speedo correction for tire size, reading and clearing CEL's and the on board live engine/tranny monitoring are pluses as well.

Nope, except for tires, all stock on the last 4 trucks with a total mileage of over half a million km's on 2 different engine platforms. All tuned by Mike Troyer. I would ask who's tuners you have used to base your comments but judging by the lack of maturity of your last comments you are just here to troll.

I had around 40k miles on my truck when I had Black Bear tune my truck. I have an 89 octane tune with 90% of the torque management removed in first gear and 100% for the rest, and the shifts firmed up a bit. When I hit the tow/haul button the factory tow/haul settings return for everything but the 89 octane requirement. I am almost to 120k miles with no transmission problems.

It may be able to support it if it is shifting properly, but not if is banging into gear. An allison would fail behind a 6.0 if it is slamming into gear. Even the 4L80E will handle 500 lb ft of torque if if shifts properly. If the OP's truck is slamming in gear when towing then something is wrong with the tune in my opinion.Even though I am by far an expert.

I have a 2003 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.o and have a Nelson Performance Pcm and I love it. The most I have towed was 8,000 and had no isues. My only issue was after addig the tune I went to true duel exhaust. I think that was a mistake because I lost low end. I will go back to single 3" next time. The bottom line is the tune made a considerable difference both empty and towing. It isn't like an 8.1 or anything, but it did make a difference and I am happy with it. Mine shifts perfectly. Much firmer than stock, but that is a good thing. Before the tune the shifts were slow and sluggish which is harder on the transmission. Granted you don't want it banging into gear,but a good firm shift is what you want.

Yep! a tuner is for people that take pride in their cars and properly maintain them. if you don`t take care of your car and you just get in and put gas in then you want the oem tune!
