gel cap defective

We have a 2013 Komfort, the gel coat on front cap continues to fade.Have tried everything to clean it,but keeps coming back.We have seen three other Komforts with the same problem and also the keystone trailers.Anyone else having the same problem? Seems that Thor and Dutchman are ignoring our requests to fix the problem.

Always someone rude and unable to correctly subtract 2014 from 2013 and comes up with 2 years! everyone else thanks for the advice.I have treated cap twice with protect-all,and waxed. This only lasts about 3 months. Shouldn't have to pay for it to be repainted after only one year.

    Rude? I dont think so!
You have a 2013 model and 2015 models are on the shelf now. When I went to school 2015 minus 2013 equals 2! Not 1.
The unit is long out of warranty unless you bought a left over? In which case it might still be covered. But you did not say that, so...

Dont pay him any attention his first response is always negative. It wasn't long ago someone with an f450 asked for adviCe for a fifth wheel and his response was he needed a bigger truck.
  • If the unit is still under warranty get it to you dealer and don't take no for an answer. If it's out of warranty best of luck getting an RV manufacturer to cover something just because it's the right thing to do.

I too had an issue with a terribly faded front cap that was out of warranty. After much buffing, polishing and waxing with various (expensive) gel coat products I tried the ZEP Wet Look method. Darned if it didn't turn out just great and has lasted since the spring, which is much longer than any other method I've tried.

  • My 2013 Radiance faded and had micro cracking. Cruier RV paid for repairs for approx 3/4 of cost on a Goodwill repair! They wanted to just sand, spot putty and repaint. I decided that wasn"t a good long term fix. I found a Coatings company (they do bed liners and Industrial coatings). I now have a color matched Epoxy coating (like bedliner) for less cost than the re-paint! Plus it has a Lifetime Warranty! I don't have a Decal on the front, but who cares! The front is vertually bullet proof and will not fade! I suggest you look into it where ever you live!Plus, it wasn't expensive even if I had pay for it myself!
  • Meguires One Step compound works magic, used with an orbital polisher and a cutting pad. Follow up with their polymer wax or Flagship fiberglass wax, and you'll be good for the season.
  • Have you stored it the sun and have you waxed it regularly? If it is not waxed several times a year any of them will chalk. Try having it compounded, but remember white ones are hard to cure because it's so hard to see the chalk while you're compounding.
  • Two years old? Its out of warranty what do you expect? How are you trying to shine it? Contact a local boat shop and get advise from them on how they take care of hevily oxidated boat hulls.
