Generator mount on bumper

Is there any company that makes a mount for a generator that would sit right on top of the bumper (not a hitch type). I have a Honda IU 2000 generator, my bumper is 4 x 4 tube steel, it would need to have some type of a U Bolt to fasten to the bumper.
Any input would be appreciated.
  • They make a lot of diamond plate boxes that you can buy that might work. You will want to lock it up.
  • look at the thread "Dual tow hitch extension " two of those plus a $69 Harbor freight aluminum carrier would work.

  • Ok, I appreciate all of your input, this is a custom 4 x 4 tube steel frame, not on a 5th wheel or trailer camper, it will support a generator, just looking for something out of the box that I can avoid having it fabricated.
  • Believe me, unless you have modified or installed a real bumper, what came on the back of your trailer is not suitable for carrying anything.
  • The problem is that most bumpers are not designed for the additional weight and stress forces from the bouncing at the rear bumper location. Many have modified the bumper and installed a reinforced platform attached to the frame but this can add another problem taking the very important tongue weight away and causing sway issues.
  • Do you like your generator? Do you want to keep it? Don't even think about mounting it tothe sewer hose carrier.
