Generator on Tongue

Bought a generator for the TT and backup use at home. I think I can attach it to the tongue of my TT for trips, but wonder if there are any issues that I might be missing.

Has anyone done this? Pros and Cons, please. Generator is only 100 lbs with full tank. Tongue weight is under 600 and hitch can handle up to 1200.

Thanks.

  • I did that with our generator. We have a Yamaha 2400. The first trip we had rain the generator was wet and a little mud from the road into the camping spot. I bought a plastic case and mounted it on the tongue with the generator inside. This works great.

I had a fellow camper in Yellowstone tell me I should try and sell this set up. He was going to do the same thing.

I have a Sunset Trail with the propane tanks mounted in a side compart so there was plenty of room on the tongue for the generator.
