I own a 5500W B&S, 3500W Duramax and a 2400W Yamaha.
There is no way I'd use the 5500W for camping since it's too heavy and way too LOUD.
The 3500W Duramax is relatively quiet and I don't think the noise would be an issue with other campers. The difficult part is dealing with the weight, it's a little too much for grandpa to lug around.
The Yamaha is quiet, only weighs 70lbs and will run my 13.5K btu A/C unit. The major drawback is that the initial cost is three times higher than the 3500W Duramax. Some of that higher initial cost will be made up in lower operating cost, better long term reliability and avoiding medical expenses related to repairing my back as a result of trying to manhandle the 100+ lbs Duramax.
