- eDUBzExplorerCheck out the Smarter Tools AP-2000iq Inverter/generator. They have Yamaha Engines in them and are very camaparble to the Hondas. Very happy with mine and run them hard.
- I recommend hookups if you need air all day or night.
Otherwise look for a quality used generator to stay around $500. - 4X4DodgerExplorer III bought a Champion DUAL FUEL (runs on propane too)3800 - 4750 and it runs everything on my trailer all at once with NO problem.
Quiet is overrated. First of all my experience is those with the so called "quiet" generators seem to think they can run them anytime they want regardless of the posted hours.
Before I turn mine on I go to my neighbors and tell them I am going to run my generator and apologize for the noise. NEVER have I had a bad reaction. To a person everyone has said "Oh no problem we all have to do it!" But THANKS for telling us"
I paid about $600 at CW on sale. But look at Home Depot. But be sure to get the RV type with the 30 Amp outlet. - _1nobbyExplorerNot an opinion here but some proof.
My Generac iX2000 will run the AC in my TT. I just finished the 1/2 hour experiment based on various threads here....this being one.
In another experiment.....I had the Generac side by side with the Honda 2000. At idle...the Honda is quieter.
Under the same load....they are virtually indistinguishable. - krobbeExplorerThe Honda EU3000is is 49dB(A) @ 1/4 load.
The Champion 3100 is at 58db.
Technically, every increase of 3dB represents a doubling of sound intensity, or acoustic power. But a 10db difference is perceived (to the human ear) to be twice as loud.
Now, If they could only make em sound like our wives, I probably couldn't hear them at all! :W - Boon_DockerExplorer III

58 dbA ain't "low". :W
What did you say? I can't hear you. :B - IdaDExplorerI got a cheapo 3500/4400 on Amazon for $350. I think it's a Durostar or something like that. It sounds about like a P-52 if you're standing next to it on the exhaust side but it's not too noticeable from inside the trailer. We mostly do dispersed camping so the only people it would bother is us or whoever is camping with us. On vacations when we're in hookup type campgrounds we don't use it, obviously.
The quiet generators are nice but they cost a lot more, and we don't really use it all that often so I didn't think it was worth paying the premium. - SoundGuyExplorer

Most State and National parks have limited generator hours, so running the A/C isn't very practical for us. I Installed a 12v MaxAir vent fan and use it like an attic fan at night to pull cool night air in thru the windows.
I'll use my EU2000 to make coffee and charge the batts in the morning.
