What I will tell you about the the Honda. Is your arm will only tugg it once
And those week ends the Chinese won't start so you can find a Barbour fright unit on sale. Might take a. Day or 2
Just say ing the 1000 bucks goes a long way toward piece of mind - hawkeye-08Explorer IIIIt is common I am told that at the events where the RVs are stacked in close and not shore power (so they mostly only have generators), you have to have an exhaust stack, otherwise everyone be breathing exhaust fumes.

Ha, that's funny! At 130 lbs dry, not much under 150 lbs with oil and gas, not many are going to be "picking up" any EU3000iS all that easily regardless of the price! :B :p
$800 US for a used one?! Maybe, but certainly not for a new one. Here in Canada $2000 Cdn would be awfully attractive for a low mileage, used EU3000iS and only occasionally, most often during the dead of winter, have I ever seen one advertised for much less than that ... new an EU3000iS would be $2700+ Cdn out the door. :E
We bought our for about $2300, but that included a wheel kit and an electric start with a key fob. I looked on eBay - could find a couple that were used for $1500, but the standard going price seemed to be $1999. And on eBay, I bet you would pay a handsome penny for the shipping ;o) We also figured that we could keep 10 gal of gas in the storage shed, and for those rare (2 or 3 days a year) that the power is out, fire the sucker up and live in the RV until the power is back in the house.
I guess another question: someone snipped at be a while back about using generators at dog shows and some campgrounds, saying I would have to have some kind of exhaust stack that vents the exhaust upwards. What is that all about? Is this something I need to look at picking up in the future? thanks - SoundGuyExplorer

I'd consider the later since it can run the window shaker and quietly provide charging if the 750w of solar can't.
Honda EU3000is $950

Your BEST bet is a min of 3Kw.. That will give you the best chance that it will work..
I use a $250 4Kw Chinese Honda clone gen with no problems..

My $1000 Honda doesn't disturb the neighbors if they can't hear it. As quiet as it is, I still direct it away from other campers.
My biggest peeve on my last summer's trip through 7 National Parks was the joker who ran his open frame contractors genny in the bed of his pickup to reverberate throughout the entire campground at 8am in the most amazing place at Glacier NP.
Yesterday as I was walking into one of our local big box stores I noticed an employee helping a customer load his brand new 3000 watt Champion open frame genset into the back of his truck and my instant thought was - "I hope this guy is a contractor and not a camper" - as I sure wouldn't want to be one of those within a 1/2 mile of that generator when it's running. :E
Gdetrailer is right about one thing, this discussion should be a sticky - to warn others who are tempted to buy one of these inexpensive open frame gensets with the intention of using them in any sort of organized campground about just how many others they're about to really tick off! :M - krobbeExplorer

Some have managed to get a single Honda 2000W inverter gen to "work" but it may not work 100% during real hot weather nor at high altitudes.. Not to mention EVERYTHING must be turned OFF like the fridge will need set to propane, water heater must be gas only and converter will need turned off..

Name of clone? - JiminDenverExplorer III ran our 5000 BTU unit off of the solar for four hours a few weeks ago, it maxed out at 450w. It wont move the air the roof top Ac does but it puts out colder air. It's rated for 150 Sq ft and by the time we close off the bathroom and bunks, it's pretty even.
- jaycocreekExplorer III also use a 5k portable air conditioner with my Honda 2k.It does a decent job. A lot of the time up high that's all we need. I think it pulls 480 watts max.
