Wow, this thread has gone a bit off the rail. I've tried to read thru it ( mostly looking at the pictures ). But to try to bring this all together and somewhat back on track, I'll say this, and offer one example to support my theory: unless we are insiders to the factory, we really do not know what changes are made for "the same" vehicle for different markets. So all we can do here is argue about it, and it really doesn't mean much.
Here is my example: I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier. Mine is a V6 gas engine, 4WD, with a manual six speed gearbox. Now then, the "very same" truck, if I would have bought it with a four cylinder, would have had a totally different five speed manual gearbox, and different differential as well. The four cyl model has a diff made in Japan, and my V6 has a USA made Dana/Spicer.
So that is just one example. Which one has a "stronger driveline" ? I am going to assume they spec'd a stronger driveline for my V6 model, and I base that assumption on the idea the V6 has a higher tow rating, and a more powerful engine.
But, I will admit, "I am guessing" that my six speed and Dana are stronger than the the other trans and diff.
Maybe they downrated the four banger model simply because of the smaller motor and smaller cooling system ?
Guessing. It's what defines much of whats on the internet.
Me personally, I am glad that Robert from Australia hangs out here. I enjoy seeing his posts showing us trucks and campers from that place that hangs upside down. Keep posting Robert.
