Glow steps

I remove them because they are in the way when I tow and want to get into the TC. If traveling in towns, I also worry about theft by scrappers when I park somewhere. Because of the above, I have become used to removing the steps when we travel and use the OEM step until we set up at camp. There I will set up the stairs and handrail.

BTW: When we tow, I can turn the truck to the left in our camp spot and attach the stairs without unhitching. However, this takes up too much room in a parking lot to make it practical or respectful of others.

Mine stay in place all the time. Just fold them up and they hang off the bumper. Used to secure with a rubber bungee but dont even do that anymore. Never had a problem. Mine are secured to the mounting bracket with bolts and nuts so just anyone cant walk up and remove them. Mine are mounted of a little to the one side they dont interfere with towing.

if you replace one of the pins with a 3 inch trailer receiver lock you can lock them to the camper. I had to widen the hole a bit but not much.

I leave mine in place all the time. Mine is secured on one side using a small Gorilla hitch lock. Like Jack said, I had to enlarge the hole just a bit but not too much.

I did this also. additionally I fabricated a steel cable to go around the steps with a master lock to secure the steps. This is mainly to keep them from expanding should the little cable that is on the step break or come off the stay. The cable is like 3/8 inch and could be easily cut but it is not intended to be thief proof.

I had the glow steps on my old camper with a side entry. I originally took them off and they rode in the camper, always in the way. Then I started leaving them hanging on the camper and attached to my receiving hitch with bungee cords worked great, did rub some of the powder coating of my rear bumper but was a much better solution for me. May not be the best solution when towing with a rear entry TC but imagine it would still work with modification.

we remove our steps for traveling , if we are towing, the tow bar or the trailer tongue work as a step for us. If we aren't towing we have a small step ladder we carry and leave inside at the back of the camper and it's very easy to pull it out for a step. and we always have it with us so we can reach things on the camper anyway.

My preference is to fold them up and store at the back door inside the TC.

I am a bit uncomfortable with them on the back. If the bungie failed, I could only imagine the damage to the steps being dragged on the highway at 65 MPH. I have not heard of this happening, but certainly a possibility. If I used this method, I would use two bungies, one would be a backup.

Mine are mounted just under the door frame. When folded up, the five steps do not clear the bumper which results in the steps sitting slightly canted outward. This canter prevents you from opening the door without unfolding the steps.

I leave mine attached. They are mounted to an extension bumper that goes under the camper. I let the camper's step rest on the top of the TorkLift Glow Steps to take strain off of the wood floor of the camper. I use a rubber strap to hold it up when traveling.
