Lets not forget during most of that eight years I was towing 12,000#. I doubt that many would pay $6,000 for a 10 year old gaser with 234,000 miles.

If you purchased a 10 yr old diesel truck with 234,000 miles, a 10 yr old gasser with comparable options, trim, and condition would fetch $6000.00. That is unless a lot of this thread is BS. I am getting my numbers from your post and other posts in this thread, they're not my numbers.

$14,000.00 less 80% of the original diesel option cost = $8000.00.

More math since you were towing for most of those miles.

$14,000 less $10,000 = $4,000 diff
$ 6,000 less $1,500. = $4,500 diff

You're $500 ahead. But in my neck of the woods diesel runs on average $0.57 more per gallon.

80,000 miles / 18 mpg (being generous) = 4444 gallons X $0.57 = $2533.08 extra spent in fuel costs. You're now $2033.08 in the hole.
