GM assembly plant in Oshawa Ontario closing.

I just read a news article that states the GM assembly plant in Oshawa Ontario is shecuduled to close.
Hmmmm, I find that surprising. It's a major plant in Canada. Been producing cars there since 1953.

No more cars there after December of 2019.

I'm not sure if they build any of our trucks there. I don't know that much about the place.
I drove past it this past March while there on business. Big impressive place!

News story here.

GM has a history of bad decisions. They will make millions in profit from the incentives that were given for building the plants, then dumping it as soon as possible. No employees to pay, get the stupid locals to pay for most of the building and opening expenses, then drop it all and put the money into their pockets, and leave all the rest for someone else to pay for. Nothing new, just the way they do business.

Can you cite the source of this supposed incentive they received in Canada to operate that plant?
  • Not just “stupid locals,” John. STATES make these gifts too. The race to the bottom such as Louisiana film subsidies of five or six dollars for every dollar actually spent filming something.
