- DutchmenSportExplorerMy brother-in-law is a retired GM employee. He's let me use his employee discount 3 times now. However, to use the discount, you have to be a relative of the employee. It's a pretty liberal policy, including in-laws and such, but still, you have to have a family relationship unless you just flat out lie about it.
- pahl68ExplorerGot it.
thanks - drcookExplorerGM has a Friends and Family discount available. There are also different discounts available depending on area, vehicle and month. We used to get employee pricing, chained from my father-in-law, then to the mom-in-law, but since she is now gone, we either go Friends and Family from the uncle, or use the other discounts.
We just got a Farm Bureau discount plus a Credit Union member discount (any credit union) on the new Cruze we bought for my wife. These added up to be more than the Friends and Family discount.
All you can do is check.
Friends and Family you just need someone willing to log in and authorize it. - pahl68ExplorerThanks

What is the GM Supplier Discount for Friends?
The GM Supplier Discount for Friends is a program that allows active and retired GM employees to extend the same discount GM suppliers enjoy to cousins, friends or neighbors. This discount also got better as of October 1, 2013, offering eligible participants a bigger base discount.
Note: Eligible participants are prohibited from providing Supplier Discount for Friends authorization numbers directly to dealers. Supplier Discount for Friends authorization numbers should only be given to the friend or neighbor that you are sponsoring. GM employees cannot obtain a GM Supplier Discount for Friends authorization number for themselves or their family members who are eligible for the GM New Vehicle Purchase Program (GM Employee Discount). This includes their spouse, children, grandchildren, parents, stepparents, grandparents (including in-law and step), stepchildren, mother-/father-in-law, sons-/daughters-in-law, brothers-/sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Same-sex domestic partners (SSDPs) are treated the same as spouses. Therefore, SSDPs and their eligible family members are also not eligible for this discount. - RamTCExplorerSometimes just working for a large employer qualifies for the supplier discount as well.
- pahl68ExplorerYep used to work for Sony and we had it then but that was a few years ago.
Thanks - RamTCExplorerI found out by using it in 2012, don't login and apply as dealers know before you get there about your registering for it, and knowing that may not offer you other hidden available incentives.
