Which is exactly why I wanted to see the GM light duty diesel resurrected. GM is looking at an area that has no competition. I also know that diesels are much more popular in Europe than here to support a previous poster. The original Saab version of the volt that was to be sold in Europe was to have a diesel powered engine. Don't know what happened after GM sold Saab. - 45RicochetExplorer

On the other side of the world, Toyota has been offering small trucks (Hylux) and SUVs with diesel engines for decades. These are popular, reliable and versatile vehicles which show that there could be a demand for something in the less than half ton class. But are average Americans looking for something like this?
Actually Hilux , Diesels everywhere outside the US a gas powered Pickup is a mighty rare beast. Most Overseas manufacturers do not sell them. - RobertRyanExplorer

Wonder how long before they add one to their 1500 line? Ford and GM must be waiting to see how the Ram and now Nissan sell. Adding a diesel to the Canyon line is a smart idea, will open it up to small delivery operations, auto parts and construction deliveries and so on.
One of these is parked 800ft from me.I think your Canyon and GMC are going to be very much "watered down" versions of the Global models. The Payloads will be substantially lower . Hard to imagine GM selling a "1/4 ton" with a 3000lb payload.:) - Sue_BeeExplorerOn the other side of the world, Toyota has been offering small trucks (Hylux) and SUVs with diesel engines for decades. The Nissan is somewhat exciting due to the Cummins engine. The Nissan aspect of it less so. I am just not a fan of Nissan. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer
