GM's numbers are high because 21% of their truck sales were fleet sales. Accountants would prefer that sales be retail to make higher profits.
Are you saying that fleet operators do not buy Ford and Ram trucks, only less knowledgeable buyers?
Fleet vehicle operators decide what to buy based on the total cost of ownership which is the difference between what it costs to buy the trucks, keep them running, and the amount they get when they sell the trucks. Strangely enough they could care less how pretty they look or how many cup holders they have.
Not saying that at all. Analysts are saying that GMs sales are not necessarily an indicator that the truck is popular with the guy on the street. In gauging popularity with the general population it is the retail sale figure that matters.
