Thunderbolt, I sympathize. In my business and personal life, I've owned several trucks, vans, and cars of all brands. I'm not brand loyal. Well, that is no longer true, I've become loyal to Honda and Toyota.
My take is, I likely won't own another Chrysler. Just too much heartbreak for me.
Fords have better overall quality than Chevy, but when the Ford breaks, it's something big and expensive.
The Chevy will dependably run a long time, but you never know when the door handle is going to come off in your hand. (Not literally that.) Minor stuff will break, rattle, etc.
I have a 2004 Duramax. I did have instrument cluster problems several years ago. My mechanic fixed it by unplugging all of the computers to test them. He found nothing, but it has worked ever since. LOL!
The window regulators, yes, that is a known feature of these Chevy trucks. They are krap. Right now the rear ones move at a turtle pace. I already replaced the front passenger one. It's race car fast. There are videos on youtube showing how it's done.
Parking brake, leaky access cover under windshield cowl, on and on. It's a Chevy; they all eventually feel like they were built on Friday night of 4th of July weekend. But they keep running. And that is worth something.
I don't care if anyone flames me. Have at it! I've owned them all. LOL.
I would buy another Duramax if I needed one. "Can you throw in a roll of duct tape with it?"
