I have to disagree with both posters. If you go from a 2010 or earlier to a 2011 3500 single rear wheel you will almost double your payload. GM completely re designed the truck in 2011. My payload is about 4k. The same as what the DRW 2010 3500. I have no trouble at all hauling my 11'6" camper with my SRW truck. Check my profile. Do some research you will find this to be correct. In fact mine is a diesel with a gasser you could probably come up with even more payload.
