They didn't completely redesign the truck. The only thing that was redesigned was the frame. THe running gear was also upgraded to heavier duty components. All of that resulted in higher GVWR for 2011 and newer.
2010 and older 3500HD dually are 11,400
I don't know what the GVWR is in 2011-2014, but it might be the same as 2015, which is 13,025
I've looked at 2015 SRW 3500HDs and if I recall correctly, they are 11,600, which could be the same as 2011-2014
