Some comments over the years about the lack of power in a GM 6.0L gas truck. We just left a campground on Rte 33 in W Virginia outside Harrisonburg ... was hauling 3200 lbs of camper, and a 1100 lb...

The uber-output motors, 6-speed autos, factory exhaust brakes, etc. have given us all amnesia.
In the mid-1990s a guy with a 454 or 460 & 4sp auto would've had just about the best towing machine out there...and yet a small block from this generation would clearly outperform it.
I suppose our expectations go up right alongside the performance of these newer machines (which would spank those of just a few generations ago); that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I agree with Engineer in that it is a bit ironic how today's small blocks, which would dominate 90's big blocks and diesels in performance, are ridiculed and considered "inadequate."
