- jimh406Explorer IIIYou should be fine if you are talking about the paved roads throughout the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
- JayGeeExplorerNo problem.
- CqyqteExplorerStay away from Hwy 129 (Tail of the Dragon) unless you want to embed a motorcycle in the side of your TT, or lose it over the edge of those steep drop-offs. 318 turns in 11 miles and most are 180 degree switchbacks.
- RoyBExplorer IISometimes the mtn pass between Gatlinburg and Cherokee gets closed in the winter months due to bad weather (Heavy Snow and Icing etc)...
Going around the mtn pass is a very long route to take if Gatlinburg TN or Cherokee NC is your destination haha...
Roy Ken - kohldadExplorer IIISure hope not as I've just went over both ways as part of my Hurricane Mathew evacuation. Plus I've pulled a 35' FW and 30' TT over it a few times too.
Elk were in the fields and even heard one bugling this past Sunday night.
Tail of the Dragon is also fine with the TC but not okay for anything but the shortest of trailer.
Where are you headed to in the area? Just curious. - GaetanExplorerWe are coming from north on I81 and after visiting the smokey's we will met some friends in Savannah and the go to Florida for 5 months
Gaetan - NEOKExplorerDrove through the park from TN to NC last fall with our TV, no problem. Also drove the Tail of the Dragon with the TC, have to admit its a O's drive.
- GaetanExplorerI have looked at a video on trail of the dragon, it is not for me, thanks for the comments
Gaetan - BubtoofatExplorerWe just drove through there last weekend, twice. Went to the Overland Expo. You will not have any issues.
Mike - theoldwizard1Explorer IIThere are few places to pass, so pull over occasionally and let traffic behind you clear.
