Last time I had a fraud attempt on my accout it was at a natl bank. It was attmpted at a branch 1500 miles away. Closed that account. No more natl banks for me. Local and on line.
Online is the problem, not whether the bank is local or not. I had my local account compromised through online once. - SolidAxleDurangExplorer

IMO that is a poor excuse not to use a national bank and I do note you said ATTEMPT so no harm done from my read. We had a local that was absorbed by a regional and then about 15 years ago by BOA. Have yet to be any any city of any size that I couldn't find a BOA ATM locally and use on line banking for bills like CC, utilities, etc. Problem with local banks is ATM facilities and/or potential 3rd party ATM charges so there is a lot of downsides and not much up for using local banks if you travel a lot.

Online banking and check deposits, thousands of branches across the country, lower interest rates, cash back credit cards, higher savings rates... - ronfishermanModeratorWe use a Credit Union. - Rob_FlaExplorerWe still use our local Credit Union, never had any problems or issues
- gwalterExplorer IIIOur small local bank did not offer all services when we decided to move out of state. I went with Wells Fargo and kept my local bank for my SS check and a couple of auto payment accts already set up. I do enjoy all the extra electronic benefits with WF.

I have been depositing checks via my banks smart phone app. Works great and is deposited into account that day if done before 9pm. No stamps! - PapPappyExplorerI agree with Biscuit, you will probably find that your current bank can handle you needs.
But, if you want something national, there is Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc.
Where you can probably find branches around the country, but for on-line stuff, you really shouldn't care.
