Banks Derringer for 6.7L Powerstroke

Interesting video for a 6.7L Powerstroke owner even if you don't want a tuner. Gale banks gives some interesting stats on a stock engine and even confirms that the Powerstroke's ECM does cut power(de-fuel) if the EGT's reach 1,450F to keep them under 1,500F. This is something I assumed it did(since I know all Cummins engines will as well under certain conditions) on the last super Ike Gauntlet shootout, but it has never been confirmed.

Watch Derringer Destroy all other Ford 6.7L Tuners

Note that this is not an actual tuner that re-flashes the ECM. It is a module that inercepts ECM data and alters it.

  • Cummins2014 I had to re-read your post as I said "Why did cCummins12V98 quote his own post?" So for a moment after re-reading it, I thought there was a copyright infringement on Cummins12V98's screename! LOL
  • Tuning or modding is not a need, it should be a want just like with most of the things people spend their money on such as RV's or motorcycles. I am pretty sure I can find something that someone else spends their money on that I find stupid, but don't say anything about it because it is their money that they earned themselves to do with as the please and it is none of my business how they spend it. After all, I think owning and spending tens of thousands of dollars on a motorbike is as useless as tits on a bull, but you don't see me chastising people for owning them.

Also, added mileage is a bonus, not a justification.

"Warranty Friendly Tuner" Too Damm Funny!

Have to agree with you there. It amazes me what some find the need to do with these trucks to justify mileage or whatever.
  • Never needed the 100k warranty on my 6.7L since I got rid of all the stuff that commonly failed. In fact, getting rid of that stuff paid for itself and then some due to the 2-3 mpg increase.
  • While it may not leave a footprint in the ECM, manufacturers can still see increased TQ numbers recorded by the TCM.
