Government shut down killing our vacation!!!!

I like the trip, the NP come in secound, just go, do, enjoy, Gov. bad, travel good.

Our US National Parks attract visitors from around the world.

According to what we hear, the parks will be closed. We're in Moab, Utah and planned on going to Canyonlands today. We'll give it a try.....don't need a ranger or visitor center. However, they may have closed the gate. :( I feel for the locals here!!!!! If the 1000s of people that are here leave, the town itself will suffer.....NOT the government!

If you are planning on visiting the Caverns at Luray you may also want to check out Endless Caverns. I'm pretty sure it is off the same exit as Luray and they do have a nice campground there. I thought the endless caverns were better than Luray as Luray has seen a lot of vandalism over the years. You can really see a lot of damage.

Ditto, we were headed to Yellowstone & Grand Teton NP this Thursday. Still going somewhere. Inconvenient for sure, pain in the fanny for the national employees.

I'm sure Gettysburg was a major destination but there are other places to see in PA. See the Amish in Lancaster, Hershey Chocolate Factory among other attractions in Hershey, Bushkill Falls, Camelback Mountain Adventures, Ricketts Glenn State Park, etc... Don't let the Government ruin your vacation. Just start adding other destinations! Oh yea, there are a lot of attractions in Gettysburg that are privately owned. You may not get to drive around the fields that were the battlefields but you can still visit some historic buildings in town.
