I am setup with my battery bank to run a good solid 20AMPS from 8PM to 11PM as well as the usual parasitic drain for the whole 24 hours and just make it down to Battery Bank 50% charge state by 8AM the next morning. This is when I run my generator for three hours using smart mode charging to get my batteries back up to their 90% SOC so I can do this all over again the next day/night off the batteries. Usually do this twice a year for a week camping at ELKMONT just down the road from CADES COVE. We have NEVER needed A/C inside the Natl Park. Always 10-15 degrees cooler than from the local towns down the mtn. We always like to get creek side camp sites as well.

Elkmont is awesome. It is almost 1000 feet higher than Cades Cove with that great breeze off of the creek. That is where I love to camp, but my wife wanted to try Cades Cove. She is a photographer and would like to get those early Cades Cove pictures with out leaving at 3am. We have tent camped in the GSMNP over the last 15 years, and there have been a few Junes when it was pretty warm and sticky. I think it will work out, but the worst that will happen is we run out of power and do it like we did all the years before. I do think the new LEDs will make a big difference.
