I would definitely call the manufacture for clarification.
A wild guess is they plumbed the Gray water with a check valve into a “Y” or “T” with the Black water and a single slide valve, for a one valve dump “convenience”; that means it was cheaper.
Again it is just a guess, please let us know what you find out.
