I have one of those in my FW, ready to go.

That brings up another question tho..

if I use this AFTER a valve failure, won't I have at least ONE big mess to clean up? why wouldn't you install this NOW, to prevent even that ONE?

Or maybe the 'valve failure' is it won't close for some reason, after dumping.

OP - Suggest you and your buddy drop by *any* RV supply and look at a Valterra (or other brand) black or gray valve.
And/or Google it for lots of pics by suppliers (like Amazon) - which should be self-explanatory.

Whether they are direct (with a pull handle, valve visible in the 3" line), or remotely operated by a cable ("no box, the arm slides into the chassis") or electric......the valve body -and operation- is the same.

Thanks.. I've only dumped mine a few times.. I have only seen the setup on MY FW. I was asking do they ALL do it the same way.. (the answer is Yes)

I can't see any operation on my FW, as the handle just slides into the chassis rail, and the internals are hidden. It could easily have worked the other way..
I 'guess' it makes sense to 'pull' to open, if there was something resting on the valve blade. I never researched it, as I didn't need to know, it just worked. And I didn't 'google' for the answer before asking here.

I told my buddy the right answer, but was just checking to see if I gave the right answer. All the material I read before and after getting my FW never said push or pull, maybe cause mine was 'closed'.

Use it for a while.

Take it to the dealer and park right in front of the office,

remove the cap.

Try pushing and pulling till you figure out which way is open.

Thank the dealer for his assistance.

Find somewhere else to have your future work done.

In is closed.. out is open..

Since the black handle has been pulled out already, push it back in, but put a bucket under the drain cap before removing.

No box. The arm just slides into the chassis. The valve is hidden behind the under belly cover. Same as on my Alpine he said.
