How long is a few years ago ?
BFG Commercial T/A and Uniroyal HD-H had recalls in the '10-'12 era for tread separation.
bfg recall. See your BFG dealer as your old tires may be included in this recall.
I would replace them all with the new Commercial T/A2 AS tires.
My son had 4 Commercial T/A AS on a 34' 5er. BFG gave him 4 new Commercial T/A2 AS in 2014 which are the new upgraded ones.
Michelin owns BFG and Uniroyal. In the early/mid teens Michelin/Uniroyal/BFG all had tire issues of some type or other.
Prior to those years no problems with the same tires. I would 'spect their buyers found material at a cheaper price. :R
