Actually the GX and Toyota 4Runner share a platform...I have a 4Runner...I tow a 20' HTT...it is perfectly safe...this is a commercial...it has been entirely over-analyzed...everyone calm down. - RCMAN46Explorer

Why not? For all you weight police:
Lexus GX tow ratings 6500 #
The SEVEN, count them, SEVEN, smaller Airstreams are UNDER 6500# GVWR!
The smallest is 3500#!
So, why is it so TERRIBLE to tow WITHIN ratings?
I thought you all WANTED people to be within ratings?
X2 Exactly my thoughts.
May be but look at the commercial at about 18 seconds. Looks to me like there is a bad case of porpoising going on. May have tongue weight to light to stay in tow ratings.
Without WD tongue rating may be less than 300 lbs. Also one axle trailers with low tongue weight have a tendency to porpoise and sway. - Me_AgainExplorer III

But the video clearly show it on the road without a weight distribution hitch. No one should be towing even a trailer that small without the proper hitch. - jerem0621Explorer IITypical.
There is NO problem with this. Believe it or not it's EAZY to tow trailers... Especially with the HP the modern trucks are putting down.
Heck I remember being AMAZED that the new then 1996 Silverado Vortec 350 was going to make 260 ish hp and 330 ish lb ft tq. I mean. Who needs more than that in a half ton???
What bothers me is that it's ok to use a Dually to tow something 2.5 times heavier than the TV. But Heaven Forbid that a Half Ton user tow up to their max trailer weight.
My 97 F150 had an 8000 lb tow rating. It didn't blink at 7000 lbs.

Looks fine to me. What didn't look fine to me was seeing a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe towing a double axle TT that had to be 20-22 ft long through the Virgin River Gorge in Utah/Arizona this past weekend. The GVWR of the trailer had to be 5,000 lbs, and I know that the Sante fe does not have that sort of rating...or does it? The trailer just dwarfed the SUV....
Ever noticed that some of them 35-40' quad slide 5w's that folks pull with SW 25 or 35 series trucks dwarf them too! Heck, some dually's are dwarfed by 40' 5w's!

- Dandy_DanExplorerIf you noticed, the Airstream only has 1 axle so it can't weigh too much. Years ago nobody felt they had to have a a 350 dually to pull a TT. I pulled a 21' from Ohio through the east coast and up to Niagra Falls with an Olds Delta. After that a 28' with a Plymouth Grand Fury and thought nothing of it.
- PAThwackerExplorerThere are commercials by Nissan showing the cuv pathfinder towing a camper too. Out v
