Half ton tow rating = 12,000#

Man with those kind of ponies advertised, I assume Ford will put some steriods in its 6.2.

So what is the big deal about going down hill? Isn't that what brakes are for if needed and applied properly? Been working for me and I will be over 7 decades when hitting the road next winter. :h

I would think that if you walked into any Toyota dealership in the country you could get it. In the second quarter of 2008 Toyota moved all Tundra production to the Texas plant, specifically San Antonio. Their product brochures do not indicate special builds for specific regions.

That is true about the regular cab according to the site. I do know you use to be able to get the 5.7 in a regular cab. They just started offering the v6 in the regular cab in the last year or 2.

I jumped to a conclusion based on what I found on Toyota's website, which is confusing at best. Just for fun I changed the zip code I entered to the Gulf Coast area where I was able to build a 2WD base Tundra with the 5.7. When I used my local zip code I could not. The only base model I could build with the 5.7 was the 4x4 CrewMax. So apparently Toyota plays all the same marketing games that the others do.

It's not a model I am at all interested in, but I wonder what a dealer would tell me if I went in and wanted to order a Tundra Regular Cab work truck with the 5.7.

Don't want to assume but if you're referring to your Ford & you're unhappy with it's towing performance consider going to 4.30 gearing. Mine had 3.73s, I went to 4.30s and the seat-of-the-pants performance is very noticeable with only a very small drop in overall economy.

Yes I was referring to 1/2 tons as this is a 1/2 ton thread. I am perfectly happy hauling around my 8200lb trailer with my 9500lb tow rated truck (rating goes up with lower gears) and being well under every rating on the truck and trailer.

It's good to see it only took 1 page to **** up a good thread with Ford sales numbers and engine combinations on tundras.

I bought a Ram 2500, I don't have to worry about being 1st or 2nd.:)
