I don't think the material your vehicle is made out of (steel or aluminum) is the issue. The issue is, don't be so lazy that you fail to head the written warnings at the car wash and take 30 seconds to remove your antennas. After all, they have been making body parts out of fiberglass for years with little damage as a result.
