We went with a hard sided slide camper. It's usable with the slide in but way more comfortable with it out. I drove it in some fierce cross winds and it felt stable and barely moved. I can't imagine a single rear wheel dealing with cross wind as well.
We stay in camp grounds more often than not. I like the privacy of a hard side.
