I have a riding buddy (MC) that converted a Class 8, removed 1 rear axle, tows his 5th wheel and has room between the hitch and cab to winch up a Susuki sidekick sideways and also two off road motorcycles sideways all at the same time.
How’s he drive on public roads with a 12’ long car sideways?
Easy, the sidekick is winched up on a tilted ramp at about a 45 degree angle or so. no wider than the truck cab when on the ramp and tied down. - RobertRyanExplorer

I can answer that. There is a group in the US who use your classification 8 trucks and snall Smart cars that fit neatly sideways on the truck. It is not a oroblem - RobertRyanExplorer

Again, yes, it's happened but usually it's a design/manufacturer error. There is no rash of trailer a-frames falling off because they have been stressed. You are solving a problem that doesn't exist...unless you are simply being abusive (say taking that mudhole you show at 50mph).
Problem pretty well exists even if you use a a Medium duty Japanese truck and towing a Caravan on road - RobertRyanExplorer

These were not used as tow vehicles but as Off Road Caravans started to hit 8000lb+ and you wanted the truck to have considerable payload capacity as well they are now being used
Well now, that looks like more dollars than sense…
Other way around cheaper then a 1 ton and has greater towing and off road ability that is why they are using them. Isuzu is pushing " tradies packs" so tradesmen who use Pickups for work, can use these as an alternative because of their vastly greater payloads - Grit_dogNavigatorRR, such an expert with everything RV….especially the North American ones that he constantly bashes and quite likely knows nothing aboot….

You see some on 5th wheel hitches but usually on the bigger units with very heavy pin weights on stiff truck suspensions. Mostly it's about comfort.
While it has happened, it's not common for the a-frame on bumper pull trailers to fail, so not much demand for such a device.
Yes if tou do not use a soecific hitch to take the stress out they will fail. Normal WDH's do not work

By the way WDH are no for off road use. If you are going to be turning down some rough back road, generally best to remove the bars. You won't be going fast enough to benefit from the WDH and are likely to exceed the operating angles possibly damaging something. - Grit_dogNavigator

See that here with 5th wheels, but now happening with caravans. You cannot tow three vehicles like you can in some states of the US. Nor would be a bright idea to do that off road - RobertRyanExplorer
