I test it every time we go camping. I also make the kids try it out every time since it's on their side. They don't actually open it all the way, so no harm no foul.
The weird thing I noticed is that I have to do it first every time because it gets stuck. Once I open it then the kids are able to open it. Otherwise they can't open it. No idea why, it's not air pressure since the door is open.
