I will not be holding my breath. My guess is this will be much like the mythical $27,500 Tesla model 3.
Tesla has never advertised a 27500 car that I know of.
They had press releases for a $35k MSRP minus $7.5k subsidy = $27.5k (they were careful to use press releases and were vague to avoid false advertising claims but they made it very clear you were going to be able to buy one for $27.5k)
Of course the subsidy is now being phased out so they will likely never hit the $27.5k that they suggested.
Nope. It was never a subsidy. It was a 7500 dollar tax credit. This tax credit is still available to those who buy an EV other than Tesla.
Just a guess but if and when the 35000 dollar version comes available most people will dress it up a bit. I doubt they will sell many plane Jane models at 35000 bucks.
JMHO
I think this is also a part of the problem with EV's. Instead of being honest, they play at semantics as does their fan base.
I doubt there was a even a single person that made a reservation that thought they were making an order. Unless maybe they were making a reservation in something other than there mother tounge and couldn’t understand the text. An order configuration process is quite involved, a reservation, not.
