It's been happening with lane-sharing motorcycles in CA for decades and doesn't create problem big enough for changing the law.
Beside, new car/trucks have radars that will light red light in side mirror when somebody is in your blind spot and trigger the alarm when you turn the blinker.
Newest technology will put resistance on steering when you try to push the accident.
Lastly just because car can make 60 in 3 seconds, doesn't mean drivers will use it. I did own couple of 6 seconds car and about 90% of passengers would panic when I do that. Had to sell nice BMW mostly becouse my wife could not take the stress, even my teenage sons loved it.
Go to youtube and search for Corvette crashes. Lot of those car buyers can't handle the acceleration and crash the car 200 ft from starting point.
