HELP - stripped interior screws

Hello - we went over some very rough and bumpy asphalt today and when we got home, we noticed the window shade had fallen off the wall, pulling the mounting screws out with it.... They are too stripped to put back in. I tried putting it back with some bigger screws through the L bracket, but it wont hold the weight of the curtain/shade. What do I do??? Help Please!!

Try putting a toothpick or two in the screw hole and then putting some glue on the toothpicks. Then screw in the old screw and let it sit 24 hours without bothering it. You should then be okay.

  • You might try those wing nut thingy's that go in and spread open, also there are plastic ones that you insert and the screw spreads the plastic out to hold, another way would be to cut a thin piece of plywood the length of the blind top and screw it to the studs, then attach the blind to that
  • Go to a hardware store and get inserts to push into the wall with screws that spread them out.
