Help, dead mouse in heater case!

Apparently, about a week ago a mouse got into my truck's heater case and died (2010 Dodge). The smell is terrible and his body is partially blocking the evaporator drain causing about 50% of the water to come inside the cab through the emergency drain hole.

Pulling the heater case is a big job, but I have had no luck with the Rainbow vacuum or with one of those grippy cable things.

Does anybody have any ideas, such as something I could pour in there to dissolve it?
  • Just thinking...can you snake a high pressure air hose down there and 'blast' the body away from the evaporator drain to clear it?

Also, just thinking that you might just have to bite the bullet and do it the right way....:M
  • You could just get a clothes pin, that should keep the smell down.

All kidding aside, after I found mice in my engine compartment, I went out and bought some "Cab Guard" and kept a packet in the top of the engine and found some 100% pure Peppermint Oil and put a little of that on about 4 cotton ball put thru out the engine area (I change out the cotton balls every 2 months) and both of these have kept the critters away.
  • Sounds like a trip to the dealer. Its not an east job, had a friend that had to have it done on a Honda. Do not remember that it was real costly.
  • Everything that's important in life you learn by the time your in kindergarten.... There was an old lady who swallowed a cat. She swallowed the cat to catch the mouse.... Etc. I'm so sorry man but I couldn't resist. Unfortunately I have nothing intelligent to say other than I really am sorry you have this problem.
