In this thread, I would like to stick to the premise I put fourth -- an all season slide in that can be carried in an F150 which will sleep four in a pinch. If this ends up being unfeasible, I will start a new thread where we can discuss the merits of various tow vehicle options. Truck Camper Warehouse is on my list of camper dealers.
I started with Lance because their site has an F150 filter which identifies the 650, 825, 865 as appropriate. The 650 sleeps 3, the 825 sleeps, the 825 sleeps 4/5, and the 865 sleeps 5. I have been in the 865 and it seems like a suitable camper to me. Wet weight is 2011 Lbs. Add 600 Lbs. for people, and you still are a couple hundred pounds under the payload for any of the 2017 long beds per http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/brochures/2017/2017%20F-150.pdf. The 825 is 1837 Lbs. dry.

I have not been in a Palomino backpack, but, on paper, an HS6601 @ 2051 Lbs. seems like a nice camper. Ditto for the Real-Lite HS1804 at the same weight.
As far as timing goes, I will not be buying a camper in 2017 unless an unbelievable deal falls in my lap. I may even push the truck into late 2017/2018 if my focus passes inspection again.
The point of this investigation is to determine if an f150 is suitable for a suitable truck camper and, if so, what configuration (engine, bed, cab, accessories) should be purchased with the truck.
