The point of this investigation is to determine if an f150 is suitable for a suitable truck camper and, if so, what configuration (engine, bed, cab, accessories) should be purchased with the truck.
thanks...len!
All we can do is tell you how much load a particular F150 can carry. We also have no idea how much "stuff" extra you carry in the truck so we can only estimate actual loads. Some folks carry a lot.
I have no idea how much weight your looking at but I'll throw some truck numbers at you.
The F150 HD with a 7850 gvwr ansd 4800 rawr is the biggest package Ford offers.
It comes in a reg cab....super cab....and crew cab......2wd and 4wd......5.0/3.5eb engines.
The biggest payload comes with the reg cab 2wd 5.0 or 3.5EB. The trucks rear axle can weigh in the 2300-2400 lb range = approx 2400-2500 lb for a payload.
A crew cab 4wd same engines may have 200-400 lbs less payload all depending on actual axle loads.
Ford gives some very high 3xxx lb payloads based on a gvwr number. Non of the trucks can carry this much load in the bed such as a truck camper without exceeding those small 4800 rawr numbers.
hope this helps......
