The Furnaces do suck down the juice.
Also, if you don't want to buy a second battery, take the one out of the car you are leaving at home and switch it out. Some people parallel two with jumper cables, but usually a mismatch of them will cause the stronger to be discharged to the level of the weaker one.
A better solution is two 6V Golf Car batteries from Costco in series. This is a good permanent solution even if you don't regularly dry camp much. It prevents your battery from being discharged too much so they will last longer.
Running the furnace on one battery will discharge it below it's safe tolerance. You can get away with this once, maybe, but the battery will never be the same again.
