Dealers are also giving good discounts on 2013 2500HD's. You might consider giving up some fancy trim options for a plain 2500HD which will be a much more capable tow vehicle than the 1500's you are considering. Check out the Work Truck line of Silverado's. Most dealers don't carry too many as they sell for at least $10k less than the fancier versions. I had a 4.8, 5.3, and now a 6.0. Big improvement over either. Payload capacity is why I recommend a 2500. I don't want to waste time figuring out whether I can carry another 500-600 pounds, I just do it.
