I've read that a few people have tried a 2000, but the 3000 is about double the size and weight, right? I haven't read about anyone doing a LP conversion for a gasoline generator although there are a few brands that run on both.
Personally, I think you'd be better off looking into insulating the compartment and running synthetic oil in an Onan if you really want a LP solution.
Also, there are a lot of easy fixes for LP generators, so don't be surprised if there is a relatively cheap fix.
