Do you guys ever get tired of the same old stories?
Of course it’s better to hand pack the bearings, but it’s also worse to not have enough grease in there and that can be cured quickly and easily with a few shots from a grease gun through the EZ lube.
But you’re right, you don’t even want the cavity that full. More like half full of grease in between the bearings, tops is what I shoot for.
I do get tired of wrong answers and try to add some common sense, only to be ridiculed by the usual suspects. This subject is about a useless "feature" pushed by the RV industry as a selling point to those that don't understand.
A few shots of grease will do nothing for the outer bearing. Half full again will do nothing.
Yup I try to add the same common sense. And you’re saying if you pump grease into there it won’t find it’s way to the outer bearing?
Man I’d love to agree with you but the hundreds of maint and repair jobs I’ve done on things with grease-able spindles says exactly the opposite.
One of the other issues is when folks like you think this is just a RV thing. Do you actually think that? Lol.
If you don’t have the experience to understand how it works and understand how it works in different industries, then you could be more open minded.
No, it’s not idiot proof, which is likely where the disdain comes from. You gotta be smarter than what you’re messing with. And if you cant do that , then the natural progression is to dumb down what you’re messing with.
