Car camping with the family is where I started. Mom and Dad are out of the picture. The youngers got to sleep in the car, the rest in the tent.
I did sleep in a truck camper as a young teenager on a hunting trip with friends. It had a built in gas lantern for light and we darn near passed out from CO poisoning during a rainstorm. I remember standing in the pouring rain catching my breath.
We also had a family travel trailer when I was in college. A lot of work to pack up, hitch up and go.

Now the TC allows me to have a daily driver and go for short camping and fishing trips. And it is more comfortable than an army tent.
