Growing up as kids my parents set up a tent in our back yard. We slept on cots and come 0400 hrs we would be freezing cold or so it seemed. As a result we graduated to sleeping bags and bingo it was a different camping experience. When I went west with my career my wife and I tented some more but moved up to a 1982 Toyota SR-5 4x2 long box pickup with a fiberglass cap on the back. We took an extended trip through BC on our one year anniversary along with our dog and had a very memorable time. I moved up to a 1983 F-250 with the new 6.9 litre diesel and bought a used 9.5 Security truck camper. This was living! We toured through Wa, Ore, and Ca with this unit. No problems at all. We sold the camper and bought a 23' Prowler TT and had that for a few years but I always thought the TC was a better blend of traveling than always wondering if this street was a dead end and could I get turned around. We sold the TT and bought a new Bigfoot 1500 series 9.5 along with a new 1991 F-250 with the 7.3 IDI. Loved this camper but as families go it was too small when the boys started to get bigger. Once again we moved over to a 26" TT but the old 7.3 did not like the heavy trailer very much. We sold the TT and bought a smaller 18" ECO travel trailer. The boys were gone by now and the new trailer was ok but we found this forum and immediately said we must get back to the TC. We found our current 2009 Northstar as a new non current unit in Montreal in 2011 . We bought it and have it on our current Dodge dually. We simply love the combination and will not be selling or trading for a while yet. We love the fact that we can go anywhere a car can go and than some. We have not attended any of the truck camper gatherings yet but we will. Love the stories so far. We have met the nicest people while camping whether they have a TC or not and this is one of the main reasons we like camping. I also have "met" some fine people on this forum through e mail etc. Thanks to everyone who have answered my questions. Be safe out there.
