Why not? It looks like it meets minimum square footage requirements.
I doubt my HOA would approve of it. - DutchmenSportExplorerI was 20 years old in 1975 and remember these truck campers quite well. I was in religious based college in 1975 and heavily involved with church. Our district sponsored a church camp (2 weeks) in August. At that time I owned a motorcycle and tent camped whenever I could. One thing I vividly remember are a couple of these types of truck campers. I was really impressed with them, thought they were monstrously huge, but fascinated with them also. At that time in my life, I envied the traveling evangelists across the denomination that held the 2 week revivals and traveled from church to church in their pick-up trucks and 5er's. I just dreamed of the day I could do the same thing ... get a pick-up truck and 5er and hit the nation to share the "good news!" Well, life took many turns for me (no regrets), I never did accomplish the mission to "save the world", I was doing good just to save my own skin! In time, I did end up with a really great truck, but never got the 5er. I did end up with a TT that makes me just as happy as anything. Still whenever I see a really large truck camper, it brings back some memories for me. Definitely, these photos bring back some forgotten memories! Thanks for sharing.
By the way ... life is not over yet. ... who knows ... I could still maybe someday end up with that 5er! I've definitely got the truck for it! I've talked with my wife often about getting a truck camper (in addition to the trailer), but she keeps saying 'no'!
Thanks for the memories ... "Save the world? NAY! It just too big!" - Golden_HVACExplorerHoly smokes - it's a 1/2 ton pickup!
I was looking closely for the side spare tire offered in the F-350 super camper special, but then found it has only 5 lug nuts of a F-100 pickup! The owner does not even notice the F-100 sign in this picture or know that only 1/2 tons came with 5 lug nuts, while the F-250 and F-350 came with 8 lug nuts, full floating rear axle, and actual brakes. (not the car brakes that came with the Station wagons and 1/2 ton trucks of the time).
Lots of great pictures there!
This one looks like another camper by the same manufacture, for sale in a showroom, probably vintage picture? - exhaustipatedExplorerWow! That is a big and heavy looking TC but it sure looks neat.
- Golden_HVACExplorerYes I recall seeing a camper with a tag axle once in 1990 or so. I was thinking why not get a larger class C? How often are you going to be taking off the camper and actually using the truck to haul home some 2X4's from the hardware store? Most times I needed to haul home some plywood, it went into the camper!
Yes that is really nice camper! It probably is one of the very longest production models, until the recent F-550 flatbed models came out with a 14' long platform and overhead cabover section that is about the same length!
Fred. - DesertboyExplorerThat's just neat.
- 3_tonsExplorer IIII doubt my HOA would approve of it.
