HT is strictly on road tread, AT is on/off road more aggressive tread, and you'll always get less mileage the more aggressive the tread pattern no matter the brand. I assume you're talking the Firestone Transforce which is the commercial rated tire comparable to the Bridgestone Duravis, and also comes OEM on the GM HD's. My 2013 Silverado had the Firestone Transforce HT and from what I remember were still in great shape when I traded it on the GMC 2500 in 2015 @ 26K miles.
My 2018 Chevy 2500 has Wranglers in 20". Transforce HT in 17" on 2013 and the Bridgestones on my 2006 2500 were the worst tires I ever had. - Charlie_D_Explorer

Which model Firestones? The OEM Firestone H/Ts that came on my Ram were the fastest wearing tires I've ever owned. The were shot at 27,000 miles. They might make some decent tires, but the H/Ts are not one of them.
32,000 and treads were done to 1/16" on my OEM HT's on my 2013 Chevy 2500. Coopers that replaced them were not much better. When I traded the dealer said he would have to replace them before selling, No, I did not allow him to reduce the trade in value because of that. - Grit_dogNavigator II

I had a couple sets of Michelin’s on my 98 RAM make 120k, 100 with BFG’s. Those were when I was working commuting 100 miles a day.
Must have been commuting to Fantasy Island LOL. I bet you were getting getting 75mpg too?
Ha, I drive like too much of a jackwagon to get good miles out of tires. Keep the right air and rotation on them and after that, it is what it is.

Anyhow I picked up a set of the Duravis M700's with less than 2K miles which were takeoffs from an 18 Silverado for $100 each, free shipping, on fleabay. That's prorated pretty **** good from the $250 each new price LOL.
That's what I'm talking abooot.
Only bought 1 set of "new" tires in about 10 years now. Rest have been takeoffs OE or otherwise off craigslist.
The new set was Amazon, good deal.
CL is getting harder to find tires other than OE takeoffs around here though. - Ralph_CramdenExplorer II

If I am understanding this 40k is GOOD mileage??? Last set of Michelins on my DRW made it to 40k and they gave me back $106 per tire pro rated. Personally would never be happy getting only 40k.
Its **** good mileage for a 4 wheel drive truck driven mostly on two lane secondary roads here in western/central PA, with our mountains and curving roads. I've had plenty of sets of Michelins BTW over the years on personal and company vehicles, that did not make it past 30K, along with Goodyear, Firestone, you pick.
You are aware that tire wear is dependent on things such as asphalt mix designs, concrete finishes on roads, weather conditions, and a whole host of factors which vary by regions, state to state, even county to county?

It was still holding 80psi and my heavy truck camper at the time. I got new ones last year. Yes, they were 12 year old too and never even so much as a leaker in all that time. I ran those things hard loaded to their max with the camper on for some of those miles. They were one OEM tire I wouldn’t call cheap garbage.
